CHAPTERS

BDEIG Chapters consist of Guild members who meet regularly.  Chapters must submit articles to the BDEIG newsletter at least annually.  Other rules, including guests and/or associates, are at the discretion of the Chapter.

Email (click on name) a chapter's contact to get specifics about meeting location and time. Come stitch with us!

Consider forming a chapter in your area.

 The Stitcher’s Code of Ethics
Stitchers will respect all copyright laws and not distribute the work of any author or designer without permission. After asking and receiving permission to use the work of others, stitchers will give proper credit to the artist/designer.

Definition: Brazilian embroidery is hand stitchery done primarily with dimensional stitches using Z-twist rayon floss. The use of the original fine growth and field flowers is encouraged because most B.E techniques are different from other types of needlework; judges should have a working knowledge of Brazilian embroidery. Display of stitchery by members promotes interest in Brazilian Embroidery. Members should reference local, regional, and state fair booklets for judging categories and classifications.

Starting a New Chapter

BDEIG members are encouraged to form local chapters to share their interest in Brazilian dimensional embroidery with others who live in their community. There are a few rules in creating a local chapter. Each chapter should have a contact person who is a member of the Guild, and that member is requested to send a report from the chapter to be included in each newsletter. All local chapter members are encouraged to be a member of BDEIG, but this is not mandatory. It’s up to each local chapter to determine if monthly dues are necessary or not, as well as whether chapter officers are needed. Most chapters spend part of each meeting learning a new stitch, a new flower, or a new technique. The education projects in each newsletter provide good information to use at your local meetings. Also, the guild has published several books that contain educational projects from the past many years, and these can be purchased through the Guild.
